My mother made the absolute best and I have tried to make them the same and can only come close.<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-amount=\"2\">2<\/span> and 1\/2 cups <strong>all-purpose flour<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><span data-amount=\"2\" data-unit=\"tablespoon\">2 Tablespoon<\/span>s\u00a0<strong>baking powder<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span data-amount=\"1\" data-unit=\"teaspoon\">1 teaspoon<\/span>\u00a0<strong>salt<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span data-amount=\"0.5\" data-unit=\"cup\">1\/2 cup<\/span> \u00a0<strong>unsalted butter<\/strong>, very cold and cubed*<\/li>\n<li><span data-amount=\"1\" data-unit=\"cup\">1 cup<\/span>\u00a0cold\u00a0<strong>buttermilk<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span data-amount=\"2\" data-unit=\"teaspoon\">2 teaspoon<\/span>s\u00a0<strong>honey<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>optional for yummy goodness:<\/strong>\u00a02 Tablespoons melted butter + 1 Tablespoon honey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 425\u00b0F (218\u00b0C). Place the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl or in a large food processor. Whisk or pulse until combined. Add the cubed butter and cut into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter or by pulsing several times in the processor. Pulse until coarse crumbs form.\u00a0If you used a food processor, pour the mixture into a large bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Make a well in the center of the mixture. Pour 1 cup of buttermilk on top, then the honey. Stir everything together until just about combined\u2013 do not overwork the dough. The dough will look like shreds and be very crumbly.<\/li>\n<li>Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and gently mold it into a rough looking rectangle\u00a0using your hands. Fold one side into the center, then the other side. Turn the dough so it\u2019s long horizontally. Gently flatten. Repeat the folding again. Turn the dough so it\u2019s long horizontally once more. Gently flatten. Repeat the folding one more time.<\/li>\n<li>Gently roll the dough out with a rolling pin until it\u2019s 1 inch thick. Cut into 3-inch circles. Re-roll any scraps until you have 9-12 biscuits. Arrange in a 10-inch cast iron skillet or close together on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. (Make sure they\u2019re touching.)<\/li>\n<li>Brush the tops\u00a0with remaining\u00a0buttermilk. Bake for 15 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown on top.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the oven and, if desired, brush with melted butter and honey mixture. Enjoy warm.
